The festival is as cozy as a nest. This new swing nest on the Levantine coast completely won me over. The aesthetic and the work done by the organizers and volunteers in this first edition were a total success.
The photo booth was such a fun surprise — we had a blast trying on bird beaks, wooden wings, and even a giant eggshell!
One beautiful touch was discovering your name on an envelope hanging from a huge mural near the photo booth. Inside each envelope, attendees could leave stickers, notes, or little messages. Some of us wrote words of love and friendship, memories of shared dances, funny class moments, even flowers or small drawings. You’d collect your envelope at the end of the festival as a heartfelt keepsake of your time at Nest Fest.
These details stood out not just for their creativity but for the way they build community.
I must also highlight the venue setup for the classes and parties — everything was concentrated in one big “nest,” divided into rooms named after different birds according to your class level. We were in the Flamingos, while the top level — the Condors — gathered the festival’s most advanced dancers after the teachers.
Classes were packed and so much fun. We met tons of new people, and the teachers were warm and approachable. If this Alicante festival keeps growing as I hope, it’ll soon need to expand its nest!
One day featured a delicious local meal — a spectacular paella served in a stunning open-air space surrounded by trees and big umbrellas shading the tables, with a bar offering affordable drinks and a live band playing while we danced on a big cement floor.
In that same space, there was also a lovely music therapy class inside the venue. I won’t reveal more about the location — it’s something you truly have to experience in person.
I wholeheartedly encourage everyone to find their own swing nest at the next edition of Nest Fest.
